March 17th 2010 - The Irish Centre and Metropolitan Cathedral
St. Patrick's Day today - always celebrated in style here in the city often termed 'Dublin's Back Garden' (as a tribute to our long standing links with Ireland and our large Irish community). Pictured here is the, now sadly disused, Irish Centre on Mount Pleasant. The circular ornate building, previously an assembly rooms, dates back almost 200 years and was used until the mid 1980's as a meeting place and cultural hub for the Irish community in Liverpool. A place where everyone was welcome, it was sadly missed when it closed its doors. Another Irish Centre has since opened, but the fate of this building remains undecided. Peering over the rooftop is the crown of the Metropolitan Cathedral, affectionately known locally as 'Paddy's Wigwam'.

February 17th 2010 - Metropolitan Cathedral
Another wet and cold night. The Metropolitan Cathedral looked very space age; yet another piece of unique architecture Liverpool has to offer. The illuminated stained glass window looked beautiful shining out under the 'crown of thorns'.

February 15th 2010 - Reflection
A grey day with relentless drizzle, so I put off taking photographs until tonight. Still the rain fell... I took a number of shots of the multicoloured and ever-changing lights that make up the facade of Liverpool University's Engineering Building but felt that this one best summed up the day. I caught the reflection in the puddles on the pavement opposite the building, in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral, just as they changed to an amber glow. Here in Liverpool the streets are paved with a different kind of gold.

January 16th 2010 - Liverpool at Night
This amazing aerial view, looking out across the city towards the Metropolitan Cathedral, was taken at nightfall tonight from the 331ft. high tower of the Anglican Cathedral. A clear sky but very breezy at the top. Liverpool University's multicoloured Engineering building and red brick clock tower can be seen behind the Cathedral and the busy Hope Street, home to the Philharmonic Hall, is in the foreground to the right.
