February 19th 2010 - Farmer's Fields in Hale

Out early this morning to catch the best of the sky before the predicted snow clouds roll in. Beautiful morning light across the fields in Hale, looking towards the factories near Frodsham - their chimneys billowing. Just visible through the mist is a hazy Runcorn bridge. Heading for home the skies darkened and a light flurry of snow fell (Image best viewed magnified).

February 12th 2010 - Sunrise over Liverpool Docks
Taken early this morning from Crosby beach; yet another stunning sunrise. February seems to be turning into a month of spectacular skies. I had the feeling that spring is not too far away; there was a freshness in the air that the season brings. So long winter, I shall miss you...

February 1st 2010 - Iron Man and the Moon

Lucky enough to be driving along the Dock Road just before 8am this morning - noticed the moon was still visible as the sun was rising behind me. I've always wanted to take a photograph of Antony Gormley's installation, 'Another Place' (100 life-sized iron casts of the artist himself, at intervals in the sand going 1km. out to sea at Crosby) but had waited for the right conditions. Today was the day...I'm really pleased with the images; the colours in the sky, the stillness of the scene and the moon reflecting in the water, and struggled to decide which to post. Check back at the end of the month for a slideshow of the others. Bitterly cold but a beautiful light.

January 1st 2010 - Sunrise on a new decade

I felt this was an appropriate start to my project. A beautiful, peaceful morning, with frost underfoot and the first sun appearing through the trees in Calderstones Park.
